EM DBConsole just doesn't start
Hi, I have oracle10g installed on linux along with the http server for running apex3.0 everything worked fine. but when i restarted the database, the DB console failed to start. i tried doing [oracle@oraclebk bin]$ emca -deconfig dbcontrol db -repos drop after a long time i got message as: INFO: Repository successfully dropped Enterprise Manager configuration completed successfully FINISHED EMCA at Jun 26, 2007 11:43:06 AM but then when i tried to do: [oracle@oraclebk bin]$ emca -config dbcontrol db -repos create i got the follow error: SEVERE: Failed to allocate port(s) in the specified range(s) for the following process(es): JMS [5540-5559],RMI [5520-5539],Database Control [5500-5519] Refer to the log file at /home/oracle/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/cfgtoollogs/emca/msdbbk/emca_2007-06-26_11-45-04-AM.log for more details. Could not complete the configuration. Refer to the log file at /home/oracle/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/cfgtoollogs/emca/msdbbk/emca_2007-06-26_11-45-04-AM.log for more details. so when i checked the log file this is what i got. oracle.sysman.emcp.exception.EMConfigException: Failed to allocate port(s) in the specified range(s) for the following process(es): JMS [5540-5559],RMI [5520-5539],Database Control [5500-5519] How can i fix this error. Can someone help me fix this please. Thanks, Philip.
specify the port value while executing emca
Hi, specify the port value while executing emca what port value? is it db listener port 1521 or EM port 1158 where do i mention is it emca -config dbcontrol db 1521? Thanks, Philip.
It should just work. If not then one or more of the ports mentioned in the error message are claimed (do "netstat -a" or use "arp") OR you are not allowed by the system to claim these ports (for instance by a firewall or "bastille" program). This should normally not be happening, but if you have name resolution problems of your machine and the machine "thinks" the server you are claiming is a machine from outside itself, then it will be blocked claiming the needed ports (maybe stupid example, but maybe it will give you the answer you need). "Bastille" is very (can be very) agressive regarding blocking stuff, If it is installed / enabled...
Hi All, i kind of re-installed the whole database server and then restored the datafiles. so right now the DB console is working fine. Thanks, Philip.
