Solaris 10

Slow NFS performance on SPARC

Hello! We are using v240 and T2000 SPARC-machines with Solaris 10 and suffer from a very slow NFS performance. Transferring a 170MB-tar takes not long, but the same extracted (many small files) takes up to six(!) minutes. This happens at all patch-levels, even on a freshly installed with no other configuration made. Same system and settings on a x86 does not show the problem. So I installed a Debian GNU/Linux for testing purposes which shows the same issue. But then I activated the "async" mount-option and that boosted the speed. Does anyone know if Solaris 10 has an equal setting where I can tune NFS? TIA Stephan
