BART - mode value


I am looking at the Basic Audit Reporting Tool (bart) feature and note that the mode value reported in the manifest as six numbers. While I am familiar with the meaning of the right most four numbers, i.e. special file permissions, owner permissions, group permissions, other permissions, I don't know what the left most two are meant to represent. I also note that the left most number always appears to be "1". Can anyone explain what the left most two number
