Know nothing about JAVA

I am not a programmer, a techie, but rather a casual user of a PC. What I do know is that I just downloaded the upgrade of IE to IE7. Since I did this, there is a webcam site I go to that uses JAVA. Now when I attempt to launch the site, I get the following message, "Several Java Virtual Machines running the same process caused an error." I went to Control Panel and add/remove programs to see what I had installed as far as Java is concerned. There were several entries in there. I am at a complete loss as to what to do to get this working. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Get rid of IE! SCNR

Do you mean go back the IE6 which is what I was using before?

Get Firefox or something else, better than IE.

So if I understand you correctly, it was the upgrade to IE7 that is causing this error message? It was working just fine in IE6. I cannot even launch the Java console in Windows!!!! When I attempt to launch the Java console in Control Panel, it will not let me get into advanced settings. I was reading in another Java forum something to do with assigning a certain amount of memory which if not properly assigned will cause this error. Is this truly the only solution to the problem to get rid of IE totally???? I find that hard to believe!!!!

Uninstall your JRE and re-install it; maybe it wasn't registered properly with IE7. My suggestion.

A more complete solution would be to get rid of Windows. It might not solve all your problems in life, but it will some of the more irritating ones (Microsoft).

I went to add/remove programs and there are 4 versions of J2RE installed, they are: 5.0 updates 2,4 6 and 9. Do I uninstall all of them and then reinstall the latest one? As you can see I know virtually nothing about Java.

Yes. Uninstall all of them and reinstall the latest one.

No luck!!!!! Uninstalled all the ones that were on my system, ran registry cleaner, then reinstalled the latest one. Now I am getting the error message, "Java plug in cannot be accessed. " or something like that. Any other ideas???

If it doesn't, then it's most likely a problem with IE, and you'll have better luck on an IE forum.
