Hello I am not asking on how to make a chat in java. I mean, how can I make different room chats? I do a chat server for each of them? Or how? WHat is the ussual way to this? Thanks. Jordi The question's pretty vague. You need to be more specific.

Hello quest I mean: if I do a Java chat, how can I separate people in different rooms. What is the ussual way to group people in rooms in a chat? A person told me it is done by appending to the messages a parameter that says the group they are in. Is this the usual way? Or do they use different instances of the server? Jordi

You only need one server. A chat room could be made up of multiple rooms, it could have an array/collection of rooms. There are lots of ways you could do it but you will only need one server, unless you are expecting a huge load that would need to be spread across a lot of hardware. Once you have working code that will allow one room then post back if you still can not see how to make more rooms by using the same code.
