Updates of Java - can I remove old versions

On my laptop I have the following "versions" of Java installed: Java (TM) SE Runtime Environment 6 Java (TM) SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1 Java (TM) 6 Update 2 Java (TM) 6 Update 3 Java (TM) 6 Update 5 Java (TM) 6 Update 7  Am I able to remove of these Updates without affecting the function of Java SE Runtime?  Thanks
