You'er doing 1. database move across plateform 2. an upgrade That cannot work so simple as you did. Please, read carefully the following thread : http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=979819&tstart=0 You should : 1. manage a database conversion (if possible regarding the endianess of your both OS) 2. an upgrade Nicolas.

Thanks for you reply But i did it on two local servers one is redhat 4 another windows xp both have oracle 10.2.0.1.0 and it is done that's why i am doing to for live. Here the only difference is My source server have oracle 10.2.0.1.0 and destination have oracle 10.2.0.3.0. If i install oracle 10.2.0.1.0 on destination will it work. please suggest. Thanks umesh

That is wrong way to move database across plateform. Here the only difference is My source server have oracle 10.2.0.1.0 and destination have oracle 10.2.0.3.0. If i install oracle 10.2.0.1.0 on destination will it work. please suggest. I already suggested. As I said in the thread I linked above, check the DATABASE CONVERT doc : http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/backup.102/b14191/dbxptrn.htm#CHDCFFDI Nicolas.

To do what you are trying to do you should perform the upgrade first on the source and only then do the cross platform move. It's likely that this isn't the best way of achieving your business goals though, but you haven't told us what those are. (or if both servers are running 64bit Oracle). Thanks for reply. If i use RMAN Cross-Platform Transportable Databases then is it ok to have two different oracle versions on source or destination like My source server have oracle 10.2.0.1.0 and destination have oracle 10.2.0.3.0.

Could you manage an upgrade on source ? Probably the simplest way. Or you could try to upgrade the database once it is converted and up on target OS. Nicolas.

Thanks for your reply Actually i don't have license for oracle 10g. than can you please tell me the process of upgrade.

Thanks for your support i do it using RMAN RMAN Cross-Platform Transportable Databases and facing the same problem i.e. main issue is different version of oracle . have a look. Without being licensed, and without access to Metalink, you cannot get the patchset 10.2.0.3 to manage the upgrade on RHEL. So, you probably should think about an other way, like export/import. Nicolas.
