Hi, You mention in your post that you were not able to connect to your DB, but you managed to take exp/imp, how is that? The question is, what is the status of your listener? Some cases you could have listener down, so you cannot connect remotely, but can connect local to DB server and take backup or such.

Yes i was not able to connect through SQL developer, also when i load enterprise manager it shows the database was not available. i restarted listener services, i restarted database, i also restarted complete server but no joys. I check the status of firewall, almost everything was alright, i dont know how i was able to take backup through expo script the only thing i see is the alert file error log which shows a clear error

I appreciate your time and help. I was trying to say i have checked the listener and it seems all good as i was able to restart them properly. thanks Shabbir

Hi, Please post TNSNAMES.ora of both client and server. There could be something wrong with the configuration you are using to connect. Thank you.

Hello Thank you very much for your time it worked !!! i just added this line in listener file DIAG_ADR_ENABLED=off
